Why Should I Fill Out the Questionnaire?

Your feedback is essential. The questionnaire helps determine whether the community should buy The Woolpack and what its future use should be. Even if you do not want another community facility, your opinion matters—please share it so we understand the full range of community views.

Next step: Complete the questionnaire to ensure your voice is heard. (You have until February 28th to make your voice heard and complete the questionnaire):

Update from the 18th December 2025 Meeting

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the latest meeting about the future of The Woolpack. Around 13 households attended, and together we raised £75 for our working group’s fund—thanks to a generous mulled wine donation.

Our working group, made up of local residents and hospitality professionals, shared updates on the project. We’ve been drawing on advice from organisations like Plunkett, Pub is the Hub, CAMRA, and others who support community-run pubs.

Summary of the18th December 2025 Meeting is here.

What’s the Plan?

We’ve mapped out the key steps to bring The Woolpack into community ownership:

· Developing the concept and choosing the right legal structure
· Fundraising and securing finance
· Acquiring the property and planning refurbishment
· Setting up operations, licensing, and marketing
· Launching and keeping the community involved
If funding is secured, we hope to open the doors in about 18 months.

How Can You Help?

The next big step is to find out how many people are interested in supporting or investing in the project. We need to raise £400,000, and your feedback is vital. Please complete our short questionnaire (link below) and share it with friends and neighbours—every response counts!

We’re also looking for volunteers with skills in social media, PR, fundraising, DIY, and more. If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you.

How Will It Work?

We plan to set up a Community Benefit Society (CBS), where anyone can buy shares (from £250 up to £100,000) and have an equal say. The CBS would own the pub and lease it to a professional landlord, ensuring it’s run for the benefit of the whole village.

Your Questions Answered

We discussed everything from parking and financial viability to accessibility and alternative uses for the space. The group is confident that, with community support, The Woolpack can thrive as a true village hub.
